Peacock Evil Eye Zari Shubh Labh – Set of 2 | 24″ Diwali Door Hanging

Zari Shubh Labh with Evil eye bead work

Two Peacocks, One Auspicious Pair

In Indian tradition the peacock is a bird of grace and good fortune — the carrier of Kartikeya, the companion of Lakshmi, and the feather that sits in Krishna’s crown. Paired with the evil eye and the words शुभ and लाभ, it makes a door hanging that is doing three jobs at once: welcoming prosperity, turning away envy, and looking genuinely beautiful while it does it.

शुभ (Shubh) means auspicious or good. लाभ (Labh) means profit or gain. Hung together at an entrance — one on each side — they invite both into your home. The evil eye beadwork above them is the nazar, the traditional ward against jealousy and ill intent.

What’s in the pair

This is a set of two handcrafted hangings, each 24 inches in drop:

• The woven band — multi-color crystal and seed beads laid over gota patti (applied gold ribbon), with diamond-cut shisha mirror pieces set down its length. The mirrors are the traditional Rajasthani detail: they catch candle and diya light from across a room.
• The evil eye — not printed, not painted. Turquoise, white and black seed beads hand-laid in concentric rings and slightly domed, so it reads as a raised motif rather than a flat sticker.
• The peacock panel — two peacocks facing each other beneath a fan of gold zari ribbon, framed by a hand-wrapped hot-pink arch and studded with more mirror work.
• The शुभ / लाभ plaque — one word per hanging, in deep red on white, ringed with a border of round mirrors.
• The latkan — a turquoise bead and a tassel of pearl strands finished with gold caps.

The colors are deliberately bold — hot pink, turquoise, peacock blue and gold. This is the festive, jewel-toned end of the range, made to hold its own against marigold garlands, fairy lights and rangoli.

Hanging it up

Each piece finishes at the top in a wide gold-woven ring. It slides straight over a door hook, an over-door hanger, or a nail with a large head — no drilling, no tools, and no fiddly thread loop to re-tie each season. The ring is also a design feature in its own right, finished in the same zari as the band below.

Because each hanging is 24 inches, the pair frames a standard 80-inch door comfortably, with the eyes sitting at roughly eye level as you approach.

Where we recommend hanging it

Sheltered entrances are ideal: a covered porch or verandah, a vestibule, a foyer, an interior door, or a mandir at home. The beadwork, mirror pieces and pearl latkans are delicate by design and shouldn’t sit in direct rain, snow or sustained wind.
